If you’ve found yourself reaching for a jumper, complaining about cold mornings, or insisting this is the chilliest Dubai winter in years… you’re not alone. Recent weeks have felt colder than usual, with many residents saying it’s the coldest they’ve experienced in a very long time.
But before you get too comfortable under that blanket, here’s the good news: warmer days are on the way, and spring is set to arrive sooner than you might think.
Astronomically, winter in Dubai ends on Friday, March 20, 2026, the date that also marks the official start of spring across the UAE.
That means the cold spell (yes, even this one) is firmly on a countdown.
The final chapter of winter is known locally as Scorpion Season, a transitional period that bridges the gap between winter and spring. In 2026, Scorpion Season is expected to begin on Wednesday, February 4, before coming to an end on March 20.
Once this period wraps up, winter is officially done, at least from an astronomical point of view.
Much like public holidays, astronomical observations, including moon sightings do help determine when seasons begin and end. So while it may start feeling warmer earlier, March 20 is the official line in the sand when winter ends and spring begins.
Expect temperatures to gradually climb as February rolls into March. Afternoons will feel warmer, mornings will lose that bite, and evenings will still be just cool enough for outdoor dinners, beach days and terrace hopping, without breaking a sweat.
Enjoy the layers while you can, but get ready to for the heat to approach slowly as spring is coming, Dubai.
